To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

Whee!

Just booked our airtickets for Bangkok! Arriving in Bangkok on Christmas morning, just in time to check out Chatuchak (which hopefully will be open for business as usual) which is near the airport anyway, then returning to Singapore one week later, on Friday afternoon. My head's swirling with ideas and plans and I'm having a lot of trouble focusing on studying. Yikes!

Anyway, it'll roughly be 2 days in Phuket, 4 days in Bangkok. Just some random stuff that I've got in mind:

Phuket
♥ Beaches! Massages on the beach, mani/pedi, hair braiding...
♥ Rock-climbing
♥ Bungee-jumping
♥ Go-karting
♥ Chilling out at night at seaside pubs - cocktails at sunset, mmm.
♥ Snorkelling/diving if I can learn how to swim in time

Bangkok
♥ Chatuchak first thing upon touchdown!
♥ Sampeng Lane in the day
♥ Chinatown in the evening - seafood!
♥ Khaosan at night
♥ Day trip to Ayudhya
♥ Checking out the Wats, museums, and all the touristy stuff
♥ Pratunam Market
♥ Bobae Market (maybe)
♥ Muay Thai
♥ Patpong sleaze acts
♥ Cabaret show
♥ Suan Lum Night Market
♥ Siam Square/Siam Centre/Central/MBK/the usual shopping centres
♥ Clubbing at (hopefully) BedSupperClub
♥ SURPRISE for the boy - won't say anything about it here.

Whew. So many things to squeeze into a week!

OMG you're right! I hadn't noticed. I stayed at Suk11 the last time I was in Bangkok - it's clean, homey, with a lovely Thai feel. I took the double ensuite with attached bathroom, airconditioned. It was safe and clean. :) And sure, add me! :)

Forgot to add, it's lovely if you like meeting people. Breakfast is provided but it feels like a gathering of friends and family. Simple fare, and everyone just sits around and shares tables. We had fun chatting to fellow tourists. Also, the neighbourhood is great. Sukhumvit is wonderful to just walk around - plenty of good food, massage, shopping, and things to see. Suk11 is just a short walk from the skytrain too.
