To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

Warning: gruesome pictures ahead

Today's photoshoot got postponed to next week coz of the rain. Boo. But it's all for the better, really, because...

My burn now looks like this:

Yes, very gross. That's what it looked like after Fengyi helped me to peel off the old dressing. I was too pussy to do it myself, so thank goodness for friends. And then my very own doctor came over and helped me dress it up:

Thanks to Caroline too, whom I got the antiseptic and various dressings from. The sheer size and variety of her collection took my breath away.

Anyway, since Tom came over, we mucked around in front of the camera. Here's him trying to look pitiful - doing an impression of how whiny I get about my burn, I think:

Actually, he is quite pitiful la, because he doesn't seem to have much luck - my hamster peed on his shirt last night.

Another funny face from him:

The man just doesn't smile for pictures:

In other news... these are currently my favourite earrings:

And the best bit? I got them for free! As a thank-you gift from Jacky, a guy whose stall I was tending during the bazaar a while back. Fengyi got one pair too! We were just told to pick one pair for ourselves at the end of the day. It was awfully sweet of him, considering that we were just doing our duty. Here's another picture of the earrings, with flash:

Finally, polaroids from Friday night:

Same polaroids, but with flash:

Speaking of Friday night, I went clubbing after work with people from work and got myself totally wasted. Ok, not really wasted because I knew what was going on and I wasn't high enough, but all that alcohol made me feel so sick that I ended up puking in the cab. That was two miniature bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label downed neat, half a jug of vodka redbull, one and a half flaming lambourginis, plus one tequila shot. No hangover the next day, but my body felt so weak and I still wanted to puke. I'm not as tough as I think after all. No more next time!
