To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

Thoughts

Something taken off Diamond's journal:

Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot,
who calls you back when you hang up,
who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.

Wait for the boy who kisses you on your forehead,
who wants to show you off to the world when you're in sweats,
who holds your hand in front of his friends,
who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on.

Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you. Wait for the one who turns to his friends and says, '...that's her' and smiles.

Now that's what I call treating a girl like a princess. Worshipping at her feet and thinking she's the most gorgeous thing alive at 8 in the morning, all rumpled and without a scrap of makeup on.

Nice, very nice. But I feel compelled to speak up for the guys here: a girl's gotta be practical - expecting to be treated like a goddess is just setting yourself up for disappointment if your guy's just not the kind to behave like this. Try to cut your guy some slack, and don't compare him with anyone else or expect him to be anything he isn't. If he loves you, he'll show it in his own way.

Teachers' Day

I received an SMS yesterday from an ex-student, wishing me a Happy Teachers' Day. I don't usually give my number to my students, but I grew close to a particular group of girls and I continued to tutor this girl for her 'O' levels even after I'd left the school. That she remembered me on this day made me more positive that I'd made the right career choice. I can't think of anything else more meaningful that I'd rather do.

Lies

My bookers are terrible! They're making me lie about my age. Tsk. For some gigs I have to tell the client that I'm 24. Crazy shit.

yah loh, thanks for cutting us some slack... but it does make me wonder WHY
why are girls not really expected to treat guys like princes?

Find a girl who calls you sweet instead of hot,
who calls you when you don't call,
who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.

Wait for the girl who kisses you everywhere,
who wants to show you off to the world when you're in sweats,
who holds your hand in front of her friends,
who thinks you're just as cool without a shirt on.

Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much she cares about you and how lucky she is to have you. Wait for the one who turns to her friends and says, '...that's him' and smiles.

*grin*

That's just inequality of the sexes at its best.

But I treat my guy like that leh.

ur one of a kind

This little ditty is my husband to a T, which is why he is my husband now! After "bad men" he was really a breath of fresh air. After 2 children and 4 years he is still the same. But I Love him back just as much he is my prince.

Anon: Aw that's so sweet! I'm really happy you found someone so special. :)
