To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

National Day Patriotism

In the name of nationalism, I've decided to do my part to sustain the economic prosperity of Singapore. Hopefully my purchase of the following will have some kind of multiplier effect on the economy:

Stila Pussycat Dolls charm bracelet

Abercombie ruched dress

Abercombie sequinned denim skirt

Ok so I bought the following from online sellers rather than local retailers but I'm betting that there must still be some kind of multiplier effect. People get money, people spend money, shops order more items, shops need more workers, more people are employed, more people have spending money, more people spend money... and so on. Makes sense, no? Though I'm quite sure dear old Mr Reeves wouldn't be too highly impressed with my logic.

hello ying,

read from your previous entry that u just bought some DIOR products. have u tried its pressed powder and diorshow mascara before? i'm currently using MAC and feel like changing to another brand. Need a new pressed powder and voluminising mascara, have shortlisted a few brands but still need more feedbacks and reviews. dun want to buy in impluse. :P thought of getting paul & joe, chanel or dior cos their packaging looks classy and sweet but not sure if the performance is as good. care to share if u've tried any good brands?

thanks! :)

Hi Gwen :)

I'm not that familiar with Dior's base products actually. I've only tried the Addict glosses, and I have the Girly Blossom palette as well as the DiorGlam palette, that's all. The Girly Blossom palette had a shimmery pressed powder in it but I wasn't too impressed by that.

Still, I've heard only good things about Dior's base makeup as well as their mascara. I'm really tempted to try it too! I wish I could help you, but I'm just about as clueless as you are. What I'd recommend is that you go down to the counter and request to try on the products, then walk around to see if they'll stay on well throughout the day. :)

My favourite brands are Kesalan Patharan (wonderful loose powder and concealer!), MAC (all-round fantastic), Shu Uemura (my favourite basic mascara), and Dior (because it's just so pretty!).

Good luck with your hunt!
