To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

mmm food.
today was the first day of the marathon meetings that are going to mark the rest of my holidays. it took an amazing amount of willpower to drag myself out of bed at 8am. luckily, everything was completed in record time so we ended before 12 instead of at 6pm. whew.
a bunch of us trooped to clementi for lunch after that. the best bit (other than the cheese fries - yummmm ) was grocery shopping at NTUC with rach! we're intending to cook our own dinner from now on since we don't really fancy the idea of eating prata and nasi lemak all the time. which is probably what we'll eat for lunch if we're too lazy to travel.
since i've been craving for NYDC's hawaiian baked rice, i decided to make my own for dinner tonight. i've never tried this before, and i couldn't find any recipes online, so let's just hope that a dash of common sense will be good enough. i'm going to try putting some cooked rice in a microwave-safe container, topping it with Prego's pasta sauce (tomato!), adding slices of ham and pineapple and a liberal dose of mozarella cheese on top, then chucking it into the microwave to bake until the cheese melts and turns a little golden brown.
normally i wouldn't worry too much if it didn't turn out too well because i'm not very particular about what i eat, but the boy's coming over for dinner. eeps. i'll keep my fingers crossed.
