To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

food, glorious food!
the comm went logistics shopping yesterday and the first place we hit was... SINGAPORE ZAM ZAM. this place serves the best chicken murtabak - try to believe! it's located at arab street, just across the road from Sultan Mosque, at the traffic light junction.
more about the murtabak: the outer layer of dough is pan-fried to perfection, with just the right shade of golden brown. it's crisp and straight-from-the-kitchen hot, none of that soggy oily shit you get from other *cough* fongseng *cough* places. the chicken meat used is very, very tender - and as a very special touch, there were chicken bones in our murtabak! no low grade minced meat here, only fresh, juicy and tender chunks of chicken. and voila! clean plates. the final testament to the exquisite perfection of the food at singapore zam zam.
shopping itself was fun. i don't mean this in the usual way - it's not like shopping for clothes and finding the perfect pair of jeans. rather, we were looking for stuff like cloth, sequins, water guns, plastic leaves, stickers, masks, and such for our games. we ended up trawling arab street as well as the concourse for our supplies. the fun was in the search, particularly since we had a budget to work within, so we had to look for the cheapest suitable items.
later in the evening i met up with terence for mr and mrs smith. the stupid man was late, so i kept myself occupied with a gelare waffle. mmm. and while we're on the topic of sinfully delicious morsels... brad pitt and angelina jolie make a very, very delectable pair. it's no wonder jennifer aniston got so worried.
