To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

disjointed whopper of an entry

dinner with the boy

met the boy at holland village for dinner at my favourite soup place! i keep forgetting its name, but it's the shop near subway, selling nine (!) different kinds of soup. good stuff.

one major drawback that just dawned on me about dating an army regular - no public displays of affection when they're in uniform! i met him after work today and it was the first time we went out with him still in uniform. so no interlocking fingers, no snuggling into the crook of his arm, and absolutely no lip action whatsoever. just butterfly caresses when you think no one's looking, and mock-accidental brushes against the skin. feels like secondary school all over again.

god i love that boy. i am so so sorry if you're allergic to mush. i really can't help but gush. anyway. six month anniversary coming soon! i've got something planned but damn i need my digicam to execute it. i suppose i could use my webcam as a last resort...

webcam

i finally installed my dusty old webcam for my (relatively) new laptop! it's been so much fun playing around with it that i wonder why i didn't do so earlier. msning with webcam is super duper fun. i went a little crazy with fengyi - we both started showing off our new stuff (hamsters, clothes, toys, etc) as well as making faces at each other.

and then i started msning with the boy with my webcam enabled. at one point he told me to look at the camera and i obediently obliged. after which, he gleefully informed me that he'd pulled his mom over to look at the screen. sigh. and i'd been making silly waves, wrinkling my nose, scowling and pouting.

designing

i'm getting a little bored with this design. i know, i know... wassup with this girl man. but it's too pink. and sweet. and i'm not the sweet girl that it makes me out to be. but alamak! i'm too busy to even play around with photoshop! and things will only get more hectic around here so i'll have to make do with this sickeningly saccharine facade.

busybumblebee

there's ehoc every weekday, technically from 9am to 6pm. usually we end early but then again we spend most nights working on proposals and presentations so if you take all of that into account there isn't much time for anything else.

then i'm starting my teaching attachment soon. 3 weeks in july - the normal school timetable, so i'll be teaching from morning to late in the afternoon, then troop back to hall for more ehoc stuff.

in late july and early august, orientation begins. this is when we'll actually set into motion all that we've been planning and working on. and it's pretty much a given that i'll have to juggle this with dancing for rag. not that i'll complain, because rag dance is after all an experience that no dancer should miss out on. it's going to be a blast.

and then, jcm.

jcm

surprisingly i've been getting quite a few gigs, considering that i don't have a portfolio, i don't have a composite card, and i'm not listed on the agency's website yet. i think this phenomenon might be attributed to one very glaring fact:

my agency has decided to market me as fann.

this all started when jeffrey commented that i look like fann wong and asked me if anyone's ever mentioned the resemblance. ok so it's something that i get quite a lot but how much more off can anyone get than to give someone who looks remotely like fann the name fann?!?

the only reason i didn't raise any objection was because i'd rather be known by a stupid name than my own name. pai seh la.

gigs

this is for my own reference more than anything else because i'm just about the most absent-minded girl around and i'm paranoid that i'll forget all this if i don't write it down somewhere permanent.

♥ 25th june 8pm: backup dancing for xia yi (24th june 1pm-7pm: dance rehearsal at jcm | 25th june 1pm-7pm dance rehearsal at mediacorp)
♥ 29 june 7pm-9pm: course at jcm (every wednesday!)
♥ 6 july 8pm-11pm: mingling and ushering at indochine
♥ 9 july 6pm-8pm: mingling and reception at suntec
♥ 16 july 3.30pm: fashion show at marina sq
♥ 26 august 5.30pm-7.30pm: mingling at sentosa and cocktail reception on boat

i just got the august gig today and it's a little scary just thinking about it. i need to learn how to swim before that day itself, because the event takes place on a boat and uh yea. so knowing how to swim would be good. and secondly, it's supposed to be some hoity toity gathering of rich and well-connected people and they're sending me, a girl who can't even hold a pair of chopsticks correctly, to mingle with these people?!? whoops.
