To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.

decisions, decisions...
i get to choose an mp3 player as a belated birthday present from tom but i'm torn between the creative micro zen and the zen neeon.
the micro zen's nice and compact, plus it comes with an organiser function - calendar, to-do list, address book, and alarm clock. and to sweeten the deal, creative is having a fair this weekend and the 5gig model is going at just $249 for the first 50 customers. it normally retails for $399 so this is really quite a steal. aesthetically, however, it's nothing much to shout about:
in comparison, the zen neeon is insanely yummy:
it even comes with stick on covers! how could anyone resist these?!?
the downside, of course, is that this nifty new gadget retails for $329. that's a pretty decent price for the same 5 gigs of storage, but it doesn't have the zen micro's organiser function. bearing in mind, however, that all handphones have an organiser function as well, i don't really need my mp3 player to perform double-duty.
sigh. i guess my heart's all set on the zen neeon after all. poor tom.
